ASUS entertains with the F70

If you’re on the lookout for a laptop that’s less ‘work’ and more ‘play’, you might want to take a close look at the ASUS F70.

Boldly described as the world’s first 17.3-inch 16:9 notebook, the glossy F70 is built for entertainment, specifically for catching up with your disc-based movie collection. Unless you’ve gone Blu-ray that is, as the F70 seems to lack the drive for high-def discs, although it does have a full 1080p HD display and Altec Lansing surround sound speakers for HD audio, so we’re two-thirds of the way there. Shame ASUS couldn’t go the extra few inches.

Outside of HD, the F70 also offers a speedy boot up with Express Gate, a spill-proof ‘chiclet’ keyboard, 1.3MP webcam, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NVIDIA GeForce graphics, a DVD-based optical drive, LED backlighting technology for lower power consumption and configurations that include a range of Intel Core 2 Duo processors, up to 4GB of RAM and up to 500GB of storage.

Prices start at £859 and you should find the F70 on the shelves right now.
