Well, the OpenOfficeMouse rightly caused a bit of skepticism when it was officially announced earlier this week, and it turns out it is something of a fraud after all -- just not the way you might think. Yes, the multi-buttoned mouse is still all too real (in prototype form, at least), and supposedly set for a release... sometime, but it seems that mouse's creator got a bit ahead of himself in slapping the OpenOffice name on it. As it happens, the mouse was apparently officially presented at the recent OOoConference in Italy to judge the reaction from the...Read More »

Motorola Motus gets FCC approval, Sholes Tablet looking legit
Whenever a Moto with triband HSPA hits the FCC, we're naturally going to end up scouring the documentation -- what can we say, it's in our blood -- and today we've found a model claiming to be the rumored Motus. As a refresher, this is a device we'd heard would rock the Android midrange with a 5 megapixel AF cam, 3.1-inch QVGA display, and HSPA for a Q1 '10 release, so it's not much more than a tweaked CLIQ as far as we're concerned -- but the big news here might actually be that the Motus filing...Read More »

Google to acquire Gizmo5, swing at Skype with VoIP-enabled Google Voice?
There's no official word on this yet, but the inimitable Michael Arrington says that Google's up and purchased VoIP company Gizmo5 for "around $30 million in cash." You know, pocket change for the crew in Moutain View. The deal would presumably bring Gizmo's SIP-based VoIP talents to Google Voice, taking it from quirky phone-management service to complete end-to-end calling solution, and instantly catapulting it into direct competition with Skype. Heavy stuff -- we'll see if Google or Gizmo5 confirms Mssr. Arrington's report sometime soon.

Rickroll iPhone wallpaper worm harmless but spreading
The Rick Astley desktop wallpaper worm, known as Ikee, currently plaguing jailbroken Apple iPhone devices is harmless, according to security experts, but is spreading wildly.
The iPhone's very own take on the Rickroll phenomenon commandeers the homescreen of iPhones that have been unlocked from network providers with the image of 80s crooner Rick. It's currently unremovable and, true to form, promising it's Never Gonna Give You Up.

NVIDIA CEO shoots down talk of Intel-compatible x86 chip, says his home is ‘all Apple’
NVIDIA's feud with Intel may be at an all-time high these days, but it looks like the company isn't about to go as far as to produce its own Intel-compatible x86 chip, despite persistent rumors to the contrary. That word comes straight from NVIDIA's always talkative CEO Jen-Hsun Huang, who flatly said "no" when asked if there was any truth to the rumors. He further went on to add NVIDIA's focus is on visual and parallel computing, and on "getting our GPUs into the lowest power platforms we can imagine and driving mobile computing with...Read More »
