PS3 to get 3D gaming in 2010
One of the first to jump on the Blu-ray bandwagon, Sony now appears to have stolen a march on its console rivals by confirming that the PS3 will support 3D.
Speaking to investors on the ‘five key advantages of PlayStation 3′, the company revealed that “All PS3 units will be firmware upgradeable to 3D", and promised to "release 3D games" on the PlayStation 3 by next year.

So whether you have the original or have recently slimmed down, all will be able to go 3D via a host of firmware updates. Sony also plans to embrace 3D via Blu-ray and with updates to HDTVs in the future.
The announcement is by no means out of the blue. Sony has spoken previously about the PS3 going 3D, and even demoed Gran Turismo Prologue in 3D at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year.
On the general 3D front, Sony is also planning to place 3D projectors into 3,000 cinemas by the end of the year.
With plans already afoot by Sony to put 3D televisions in homes by next year, it seems only right that its gaming platform joins in the pursuit of absolute 3D domination.
